A special hotline contact was established between Pakistan and Indian Directors General of Military Operation (DGMOs) on Tuesday in the backdrop of recent ceasefire violations by the Indian Army along the Line of Control (LOC) in Azad Jammu Kashmir and some areas of the working boundary.
Pakistani DGMO Major General Sahir Shamshad Mirza raised issues of unprovoked firing by Indian troops along the Line of Control and the Working Boundary and continuously targeting of innocent civilians particularly on June 1, 2017, in Battal, Hot Spring and Jandrot sectors which resulted in the martyrdom of innocent civilians.
He told his Indian counterpart that killing of innocent civilians and inadvertent crossers at LoC and labelling them infiltrators was highly unprofessional and unsoldierly. He asked for actionable evidence regarding alleged infiltration and also to look inwards for correct identification of the issue.
He said that the Pakistan Army was committed to maintaining peace and tranquillity along the Line of Control and the Working Boundary. However, any Indian misadventure from across/along the Line of Control in any form shall be responded with full force at the time and place of our choice with the onus of responsibility on Indian aggressive behaviour.
